Our history

Beginning in 2017, we were working with bacteria from the vaginal flora in the laboratory of our university, in the area of microbiology, and the best way to kill waiting times was to talk about our lives, our bonds, and our intimate relationships. . We discovered that urinary and vaginal infections frequently appeared after having sexual intercourse and upon thinking about the matter we saw that there was no product that would solve this problem. Rather than complain, we decided to create it. Hence “Biolube” was born: intimate feminine lubricant with bioactives to prevent infections. We wanted our Biotechnology Engineering thesis work not to remain in a forgotten archive, we wanted to impact and help improve the lives of women.

Far from being easy, the road was paved: the thesis at our university was much longer than expected: the authorities were not very happy to have a thesis that involved such a taboo topic. A year later we managed to take production to a national laboratory where it was not easy either; Perhaps because we were two entrepreneurial women, starting in this industry with little capital, we were unable to sign a contract or obtain the commitment that the project demanded.

The option was then to start from scratch in another laboratory, and to give it the finishing touch, when things couldn't be worse: Pandemic. The world stops, and we with this idea still in our hands. We had to continue, we had to find a way to move this forward. The purpose was stronger. “Go backwards just to gain momentum”

With the help of the CIE (Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship) of our university, we managed to apply to ANII (National Agency for Innovation and Research), a great tool for entrepreneurs in the country. We passed all the stages, we were about to present ourselves before the evaluation committee: ANII decides to close its doors due to the health situation in the country and the world. Guess what?: again, to zero. We took out our old oars and started rowing harder.
A ray of light enters through the window: we find a Biotechnology laboratory outside, the ANII reopens its doors, and we are selected among so many nominated projects. We continue working, growing, and knocking down obstacles, with our arms already marked from so much rowing.
Today we are happy and proud to say that we already have 4 biotechnological formulations, specially designed to positively impact the daily lives of women and accompany them in all stages of life.
